Queen of the Kvichak, Tatyana Zackar
On the first day of the Bristol Bay Fly fishing and guide academy we did introductions. I remember Tatyana Zackar who goes by Tati went and I noticed she looked familiar, and then it hit me, I’ve been an Instagram fan girl of hers as she is a native guide in Alaska on the Kvichak River. I am not sure how we came across, perhaps a hashtag or she showed up in an ad by a wader company, or someone else reposted her. Anyway, Tati is the guide you need to book! Give her a follow on Instagram @Here_fishy_fishy_tz
This episode features Tatyana Zackar from Igiagig, Alaska. Queen of the Kvichak River - fly fishing guide, instructor, previous student of the guide academy, and fisheries biology student. We discuss her village, her connection to the fish, how reliant her community is to the Bristol Bay salmon, lessons on fish handling, and Uber eats a day late and by plane.
